Meet Amy
Amy Chard, RDN
Hello everyone. I’m Amy, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who loves food, fitness, health, and wellness. You can usually find me cooking family favorites or experimenting with new recipes in my kitchen. I enjoy walking or running with my sweet (naughty) puppy Marley or traveling with my husband and two kids. Like many dietitians, I’ve tried every fad diet and struggled to find a healthy relationship with food. I learned so much valuable information during my journey to becoming a dietitian. I have discovered, however, that some common beliefs around weight and health may cause eating to become an unnecessarily stressful and complicated process. After earning my nursing degree and working in healthcare as a nurse and dietitian, I realized how much time and energy is spent on managing rather than preventing chronic disease and adopting the “eat this, not that” mentality.
After many years of watching people struggle with food phobias, eating disorders, and chronic weight obsession, I created Rooted in Wellness. It's an opportunity for me to propose ditching the diet culture and focusing more on eating a variety of simple, whole foods that are rich in nutrients and antioxidants rather than a diet of deprivation. I saw a need to create an ongoing conversation that provides accurate information and encourages people to learn and ask questions about nutrition. You might say I’m “going back to my roots” and sharing my knowledge, expertise, and passion for nutrition in order to help others on their health and wellness journey.
