Rooted in Wellness

Eat Well. Be Well.

My Approach

I genuinely believe healthy looks different for everyone. Ideally, we should know what our body needs to be healthy, but with all the nutrition misinformation online and diet myths, you get lost in the "what I should and shouldn't eat" syndrome.  You are not alone; we've all been there. I'm here to tell you that no magic supplement, diet, or superfood will magically get you the results you are looking for. My goal is to help you find your version of healthy through balanced nutrition and realistic lifestyle modifications, debunk the diet myths, cut through the misinformation online, and help nourish a more beneficial relationship between food and your body.

Why Focus on Nutrition?

We’ve all heard the phrase, “You are what you eat.”  The foods we consume play a significant role in our health and wellbeing.  Our lifestyle and diet choices substantially impact our health and fitness status.  As a registered nurse, I’ve seen first-hand the results of poor nutrition.   As a registered dietitian, I know changes in our diets can make all the difference between sickness and health. It's not "eat this, not that" or "it's all or nothing" mentality. Think of becoming your best self as a marathon, not a sprint.  It will take time and work, and I'm here to provide you with expert tips and information on nutrition and health topics and share some delicious food recipes along the way.

“While in the hospital suffering a stroke, I was informed that I had other medical conditions of which I was unaware. I discovered one condition, sleep apnea, which most likely contributed to my stroke.  The other unknown condition was type two diabetes.  The sleep apnea was controlled with a CPAP machine; diabetes would require a complete adjustment to my diet and lifestyle.  I was told to consult a dietitian who could help me learn to live with my diabetes.  This is where Amy stepped in and began to instruct me on the various aspects of diabetes. She created an eating plan that included whole, simple foods that I would need to eat to keep my diabetes under control without the use of insulin injections.  As I also needed to lose weight, she developed an eating plan that included correct portion sizes and foods to limit in my diet.  She also had to consider the various medications added to my daily routine, one of which was warfarin.  Amy helped me to understand that there were also food considerations when taking warfarin.  I never thought that at the age of 69, I would have to change my eating and living habits to accommodate a medical condition that was a complete surprise to me.  She was very knowledgeable and presented the medical information to me in a way I could totally and clearly understand.  Through Amy’s instruction and encouragement, she helped me see that I could live a complete and healthy lifestyle and continue to enjoy life with some minor adjustments.  ”
